Retreat Itinerary



Full Retreat
Day 1 (Tuesday): arrive at CrossRiver Wilderness Centre by 4:00 pm. After preliminary introductions, you will be shown to your accommodation to get settled in before a community dinner with the rest of the group.

Day 2-5: There will be no formal structure to the days or nights. We will be living and sharing a community life in this beautiful, mountain wilderness, learning about and celebrating the culture of Zimbabwe. Along with mbira playing friends and teachers from Europe, Chartwell will be offering daily individual and group sessions on the mbira, singing, and hosho. In addition, every evening and through the night if the ancestors call for it, there will be the opportunity to participate in the music and dance of Zimbabwe.

Day 6 (Sunday): After one final breakfast together, we part ways until next time.



Weekend Retreat
Day 1 (Friday): arrive at CrossRiver Wilderness Centre by 4:00 pm. After preliminary introductions, you will be shown to your accommodation to get settled in before a community dinner with the rest of the group. You will be welcomed into the gathering with the rest of the group, and can join in right away with any activities happening this evening.

Day 2: This day and evening will be an opportunity to continue on with the Zimbabwean community activities already in motion as in the description of days 2-5 above.

Day 3 (Sunday): After one final breakfast together, we part ways until next time
